From the Engine Room

Cryptorg has been running since 2017, and we've built up plenty of stories from behind the scenes — this column is where we'll share them. Here's the first one: today we are shutting down our legacy futures bots on Binance Liquidity.

A comment from Cryptorg's chief technical specialist:

I have to admit, switching off these bots is an emotional moment. I spent about three months writing them. The first one went live on September 12, 2020, at 08:21:15 — and it was the one that took Cryptorg to a new level. Early versions of these bots spread to other projects back then, and at their peak they traded up to 1.5 billion per month.

How did they work under the hood? Primitively, by today's standards. Once a minute, a bot polled the exchange across thousands of accounts, checked for updates, and chose its next move based on order fills. Once a minute! Today, everything happens on the fly.

Because of those old approaches, we had to run dozens of servers and hundreds of proxies just to stay within the exchange's limits. Special thanks to the Binance team, who always supported us through the broker channel.

Next to the new Crazy bots, the old-timers look slow and limited. But they did their job, and they did it well. Today we're sending them into a well-earned retirement.

The best is yet to come. Stay with Cryptorg.
